An Adoption Service Provider (ASP) is a licensed adoption social worker authorized by the State of California to provide required counseling and advisement to expectant and birth parents who are considering an independent adoption.

In an independent adoption, the expectant or birth parent chooses the adoptive family and voluntarily places their child directly with that family. ASP services are also required in certain family-building situations, including some second-parent and third-parent adoptions, as well as adoptions involving unmarried couples or couples who are not registered domestic partners.

As an experienced Adoption Service Provider, Nina Anderson, LCSW, is committed to ensuring that expectant and birth parents receive accurate information, compassionate guidance, and the time they need to make informed decisions. Her role is to provide neutral, independent advisement while supporting all parties through the legal adoption process.

Services include:

  • Counseling and advisement for expectant and birth parents

  • Completion of required consent meetings

  • Coordination with the California Department of Social Services

  • Collaboration with attorneys, hospitals, and adoptive families

  • Guidance throughout the independent adoption process

  • Ongoing communication to help ensure the process proceeds smoothly and respectfully

Nina's approach is grounded in compassion, professionalism, and over 25 years of experience in adoption. She strives to create a supportive environment where expectant and birth parents feel informed, respected, and empowered throughout every step of the adoption process.
