An Adoption Service Provider (ASP) is a licensed adoption practitioner who advises a birth parent when the birth parent is considering the placement of their child for an independent adoption.  In an independent adoption, the birth parent selects the family for the child and places the child directly with the selected family. Independent Adoption also helps secure an additional legal parent in situations of third-parent adoptions or adoptions for couples that are unmarried or not registered domestic partners.
